I walked in the supermarket with Tommy by my side and looked at the shopping list. I sighed and walked down the different aisles looking for the demanded products and ingredients that Aunt Lucy told me to buy. Tommy tugged on my arm and pulled me down the aisle with cakes and chocolate. I smiled at my small cousin and kneeled in front of him so that we were now the same height.
"Listen, Tommy boy,” I said in a sweet voice. "Let's grab what your mommy told us to buy first, then we'll buy you some chocolate,” I said and watched as his eyes lighten. "Okay?” I asked and he nodded enthusiastically. I put his hand back in mine and looked at the list again.
I'm Kimberly Ella Perry. I'm seventeen and I moved here a week ago. I was now living with my Aunt Lucy, her husband Max, and their two kids, Grace, who was the same age as me, and Tommy who was six years old. My parents were busy traveling all over the world for their work, so they sent me here with my Aunt Lucy. I adored her. I was thrilled by the idea of living with her. I know that you'll say that I'm crazy or insane, but I loved her more than my own mother. My parents never worried about me, and sometimes I felt like a burden for them. In a month, I might see them only once.
One day, my Aunt Lucy called home and she had the brilliant idea of telling my mom to send me over hers. I couldn't help but yell with happiness. I hated living in a big house all alone, with only two maids. And guess what? I was more comfortable with the maids than my own parents. They knew me better than anyone else and I considered them more like family. They were heartbroken that I was moving here but they knew that it was for the best. My cousin Grace is wonderful. She's more like my sister. She's the typical cheerleader type and would do anything for me. When she heard that I was moving to live with her, she practically made me go deaf as she screamed with happiness right in my ears.
My parents, on the other hand, had no specific emotion. It made no difference to them whether I was home or not. They simply agreed and asked me to pack. They gave me a credit card in case I wanted to buy my own things and so I wouldn’t be dependent on my aunt. But I knew that If I wanted something, my aunt would buy it for me. My parents bought me a car so that it would be easy for me to move, but somehow, I knew that it was a way of bribing my love for them. I rolled my eyes at the thought.
Today was Saturday and I was doing some shopping for Aunt Lucy. I volunteered to take Tommy with me as I knew that Grace wouldn't have the patience to look after him and also because he was so damn cute. He would listen only to me and his father. If Aunt Lucy and Grace asked him to do something, he would simply stick out his tongue and run away.
I'll be going to school on Monday. First day at this new school. I hated being the new kid. I hated when I was the center of attraction at this new school. But I was lucky enough to have my cheerleader of cousin there.
I looked at the last thing on my list and smiled because I had everything covered. I put the box of juice in my shopping basket. Tommy was jumping happily next to me and pulled me towards the chocolate aisle. I couldn't help but chuckle at this cute boy. "I want this one!” he said showing me a chocolate bar. I smiled and motioned him to put it in the basket.
"Take more Tommy,” I said with a smile and his eyes lit up and he gave me a toothy smile. Of course, I was going to spoil him to death. I always wanted to have a little brother. I pulled my credit card out as Tommy chose more sweets. I was looking for a chocolate pack for Grace. She loved dark chocolate. I started looking at the different shelves. Suddenly, I bumped into a small body. I turned to look and saw a little girl. I smiled at her, and she gave me a hesitant smile. She was looking at the chocolates with envy.
"Hey doll, you're alone?” I asked her and gave her a smile to show her that I was being friendly.
"No, my brother's over there,” she said pointing behind her.
"Then what are you doing here?” I asked as Tommy ran and shoved a handful of chocolates in the basket.
"Emmy!” Tommy said happily and took the little girl's hand in his. I looked at them with a questioning expression.
"You know her?” I asked looking at Tommy and their linked hands.
"It's Gracie's boyfriend sister,” Tommy explained while tapping his chin. I simply smiled and took Tommy's hand in mine, and we walked to the cashier. Tommy was busy talking with Emmy and seriously I could burst out laughing if they were not kids. They were arguing about who the best ninja turtle was.
"Emmy,” I called her and looked around. "Where's your brother?” I asked. She turned her face and looked around, making her beautiful blond hair go all over her face. I put the items on the counter and waited for the cashier to tell me the cost. I frowned when he winked at me. Gross, he was like thirty, for God's sake.
"There he is!” I heard Emmy shout and pointed behind me before running off. I paid the cashier who slipped a piece of paper to me. I hesitantly opened it to see a number written on it. I scowled and glared at him. I turned on my heels and balled up the paper. I turned to look at him before throwing the paper ball at his head. Tommy laughed and I high fived him.
Suddenly I heard a deep chuckle coming from behind me. Tommy let go of my hand and ran away. I turned around to see him in the arms of a blond guy. He smiled and I saw Emmy standing beside him. He must be Grace's boyfriend. He walked towards me with Tommy in his arms.
"Hey, I'm Chase,” he said and put Tommy back down so that he was standing next to me. Just as I was about to reply, a guy came up beside him. I think my jaw dropped. Wow. He was hot. His messy black hair, blue eyes, and his sculpted body were drool worthy. When he saw me, his eyes widened. Thank god Tommy tugged on my hand, otherwise I could have spent the whole day admiring the Adonis standing in front of me.
"Kim,” I replied with a smile.
"Kim, this is Aaron,” Chase said as Aaron seemed to focus back on us and blinked several times.
"Hey,” he simply said and smiled. I smiled back taking Tommy's hand and blowing a kiss to Emmy.
"Nice to meet you, but we really need to go,” I said looking at Chase only. I knew that if I looked at Aaron, I would get lost in his deep blue eyes. Chase nodded while Aaron stood there with his hands shoved in his pocket, staring at me. I smiled and turned to make my way out of the supermarket when Chase called my name.
"Kim!” he called, and I turned to look at him, but my eyes met Aaron’s first. He smiled and looked away quickly. "Tell Grace that I’ll pick her up at seven,” Chase said, and I nodded. I walked to my car. It was a silver Volvo and I loved it. Tommy started jumping in the backseat while shoving some sweets in his mouth. I completely forgot that sugar made Tommy hyper. Damn. It was going to be difficult to calm him. I, too, became hyper whenever I ate too much sugar. I guess it kind of runs in our blood. I hid the rest of the chocolate in my bag so that he wouldn't find it. I turned the CD player on, and the music started playing. Tommy was wiggling in his seat, and I was nodding my head to the beat of the sound.
Soon I reached home and as soon as I parked the car, Tommy got out of his seat and ran in the house. I grabbed the shopping bags and walked in the house behind Tommy.
"Mommy!” I heard Tommy yell, "I ate chocolate!” he shouted happily. I put the bags on the counter and walked in the living room to see Tommy jumping on the couch and Lucy watching her son in amusement.
"You gave him chocolate,” Aunt Lucy said, and I nodded. I decided to play with Tommy.
"Tommy better run or Monster Kimmy will eat him!” I roared and he squealed before running away laughing. I laughed and started running behind him. He ran up the stairs and burst into Grace's room. I ran in and saw Grace glaring at Tommy, who had hidden under her bed.
"Chase told you to be ready by seven,” I told her and grabbed Tommy's feet, pulling him from under Grace's bed. He shouted and laughed as I started tickling him. I couldn't help but laugh at his cheerful face. When I saw that he was soon out of breath, I stopped and watched him run away.
"You saw him?” she asked and jumped on the bed pulling me along with her.
"Yeah, he was with his sister and his hot friend,” I told her, emphasizing the word hot.
"You mean Aaron?” she asked wiggling her eyebrows. I nodded and she smiled sadly. "He's Chase's cousin and is not single,” she said and stood up to start looking for clothes.

Monday arrived really damn quick. I was standing in front of the mirror and smiled at myself. Why was I so nervous? I mean, it’s only my first day at a new school. I was wearing a short black skirt and a white tank top with high heeled boots. I let my black hair loose and put on some red lipstick. My door opened and Grace walked in wearing her cheerleading outfit. I twirled around to look at Grace.
"All good?” I asked, looking at myself once again in the mirror.
"All hot!” she said, clapping her hands and smiling like a Cheshire cat.
"Says the one in a cute, sexy cheerleading skirt,” I said with a wink as she flipped her blond hair out of her face. She was beautiful and Chase and she made a perfect couple. The football player and the cheerleader. Typical school stereotype, right?
"Come on, we need to go,” she said happily. I grabbed my bag and followed her. "I told Kelly not to come as I'll be going to you,” she said with a bright smile. Grace didn't have a car so her friends would usually pick her up for school. As I was now here, it would be easier for her to get to school. She got in the passenger seat and just as I was about to get in the car, the front door opened, and Tommy ran outside. He ran to me and jumped in my arms.
"Good luck, Kimmy!” he said, kissing my cheek. Did I mention that he was damn cute? I kissed his cheek and smiled.
"Thank you, Tommy boy,” I said and put him on the ground. "Now go back in the house before Monster Kimmy eats you,” I told him with a wicked smile, and he giggled before running back to the house and blowing me a kiss. I chuckled and got in the car.
"He really loves you, you know?” Grace said with a smile, and I nodded.
"And I love him too,” I told her, and she chuckled.
"I've noticed.,” She turned on the CD player and turned up the volume and my ears were crying. It was damn loud, and it was really attracting attention. On the way to school, we sang out loud and wiggled in our seats. It was awesome, and I knew that every day was going to be like this.
When we reached school, I parked my car, and the music was still on. Grace smiled and put on her shades. She turned off the music and grinned.
"Being a cheerleader means making a fantastic entrance,” she said as she got out of the car with a bright smile. I rolled my eyes and got out. I walked to Grace, trying to avoid all the stares. I put on my shades, then Grace hooked her arm with mine. We walked in the school corridor and just as we passed a group of football players, they whistled, and their eyes went up and down my body. I felt the heat crept on my face. Grace chuckled beside me.
"Oh my god, you're attracting some damn attention,” Grace said, looking around us. I could see everybody looking at us.
"It's only because I'm new,” I stated. I took off my shades when we reached the principal's office.
"Trust me. It's because you're hot. If the school knew that you posed for the most popular teen magazine, you'd be damn popular,” she said, clapping her hands. Yeah, I did pose for Teen Fresh magazine. While attending one of my parent's famous parties, the photographer noticed me, and asked my parents whether I wanted to pose for them. I agreed because I thought it would be a huge opportunity, and it was also fun. I just hoped that nobody would recognize me. I glared at Grace, and she glared back.
"I don't want you to tell anyone,” I told her sternly. "Please?” I pleaded.
"Okay, but if someone recognizes you, don't blame it on me,” she said. "Now go and get your schedule. I'm going to wait for you here.,”
I opened the door and walked up to the secretary.
"Good morning,” the secretary greeted me. "You must be Miss Perry?”
I nodded and smiled.
"Good morning,” I said and sat on the chair in front of me. She looked at some papers and asked me some questions. Then she handed me my schedule and wished me a good day. I looked at the schedule while opening the door, but soon it was snatched from my hand. I was ready to scowl at Grace but quickly stopped when I saw Chase standing behind her. I offered him a smile instead.
"Hey Kim,” Chase greeted me and snatched my scheduled from Grace's hand and gave it back to me.
"Thank you, Chase,” I said and playfully glared at Grace who was now pouting.
"Hey, I was looking at her schedule! You shouldn't have snatched it!” Grace told Chase who smirked down at her and kissed her forehead. A smile lit her face. They looked so cute.
"She was looking too before you snatched it,” Chase told her.
"She didn't mind, right?” Grace asked me, hoping I'd take her side. I shook my head, amused, and walked down the hall looking for my locker. I knew that they were following behind as I could hear them bickering. I didn't know where I was going and the two behind me wouldn't shut up. I groaned and turned to look at them, but they didn't even stop talking.
"Guys! Would you shut up and help me find my damn locker?” I asked with a frown on my face. Chase chuckled while Grace simply smiled and snatched my schedule again.
"Locker 133,” Grace said more to herself and turned to look at the locker next to her then gave me my schedule. "You're walking in the wrong direction.,” She started walking in the opposite direction. I simply followed behind her.
"Well, girls, I'll be going to meet my friends. See you later,” Chase said. He pecked Grace on her lips and kissed her forehead. "Love you,” he told Grace before walking away. Grace was smiling foolishly and bit her lips while looking at her boyfriend walking away.
"You're too cute!” I gushed and I saw her cheeks become red.
"He's cute,” she said and hooked her arm into mine. She guided me to my locker and stood beside me, waiting for me to put my things away.
"Hey Grace,” I heard an annoying voice say. How can someone's voice be that high? Grace stood still beside me, and I turned to look at her. She was glaring at the girl who just said her name with disgust. It was a blond girl in a cheerleading outfit. She was wearing so much makeup that it was scary to look at her.
"What do you want?” Grace asked icily. I simply stood by Grace side with my Literature book in my hand.
"Just wanted to know how you were doing,” she said with a fake smile. "Who is this? Another loser?” she asked with a wicked smile.
I'm a calm kid but when it comes to defending myself, I can be really bad.
"Someone who can kick your ass,” I retorted as her eyes widened in surprise and Grace snickered beside me.
"Do you realize who you’re talking to?” she sneered and stepped up to me. Grace instinctively took a few steps backwards. I glared at the bitch and took a few steps forward to show her that I wasn't afraid of her.
"I don't care who you are,” I snapped at her, and she took one step back. "Just fuck off and don't annoy me.,” Just then, someone pulled me backwards. It was Chase. I turned my head to see the bitch and was surprised to see Aaron holding her hand. Woah, he looked so hot with this black shirt that hugged his abs so well.
"Come on, let's go,” Chase said, and Grace nodded, pulling me along with them. I walked along with Chase and Grace. We walked into a classroom and Grace sat in a seat, motioning me to sit next to her while Chase took the seat behind us. I inhaled deeply and exhaled. I heard Grace chuckle beside me.
"Still hot tempered,” she said. Damn, I should learn to control my anger.
"Who's she?” I finally asked.
"Aaron's girlfriend,” Chase replied from behind. I turned so that I could see them.
"I hate that bitch,” Grace sneered. I chuckled and nodded my head.
"So do I,” I told her.
"I don't understand why Aaron is dating her,” Grace said while shaking her head. Just then, the teacher walked in. The teacher started arranging his papers and asked us to keep quiet for five minutes. I knew that he was going to tell me to introduce myself. I started doodling on my paper.
"Mr. Johnson, always late,” the teacher said, and I saw Aaron standing by the door.
"As usual,” Aaron said and winked at the teacher who simply shook his head and continued with his work. Aaron made his way to us and sat in the seat behind me, and next to Chase.
"So how was the dragon?” Grace asked, turning to look at Aaron and Chase. I kept on doodling on the paper and listened to them. Aaron chuckled.
"She was completely mad that the new kid dared to talk to her like that,” Aaron said, and I could feel him looking at me.
"Then tell her that the new kid doesn't give a fuck about her,” I retorted without turning to look at him.
"Swearing doesn't suit you, doll,” I heard his voice just next to my ear. Oh god! How can his voice sound so sexy? Wait, was he flirting with me? I turned to glare at him, but his face was so near that I quickly backed away. He was leaning on his table and Chase and Grace were laughing.
"Flirting while having a bitchy girlfriend isn't really smart,” I told him and turned to stare at my doodles. Oh my god. He was so hot. I didn't think I'd be able to argue with him.
"Bitchy girlfriend,” he repeated while chuckling and I could hear him lean back. The teacher cleared his throat and turned his attention to us—to me—more precisely.
