"Excuse me, but I quit!"
I stared at the terrified teenage girl who thought she was brave enough to make this kind of statement and get away with it even though I was the biggest bully in school. Where did she find her courage? No matter, I am about to squash her like a little bitty bug.
"You quit?" I said in a condescending tone. "Is that what you are doing?"
"Y... yes...I won't be doing your homework anymore o... or any other chores," she said. Her voice was shaking uncontrollably. I almost felt sorry for her.
Almost...but not really.
I moved closer to her and grabbed her shoulders then pulled her towards me. The movement was so sudden that her glasses almost fell off her face. I could see her eyes go wide underneath those thick glasses. Yes, be scared little one.
"I never gave you that choice little hamster, you don't get to quit unless I decide that you can!" I sneered.
"B…but…but…Evan," she was a mumbling mess. What happened to the courage she showed ten minutes ago?
"No buts, now go get me a soda from the vending machine," I ordered. "And two bags of chips. Chop, chop, I don't have all day."
"NO! I will not! It is over, I am leaving. You can't keep bossing me around," she cried and yanked herself free from my grasp, then ran away before I could stop her. Damn...she was really serious about this, huh?
"The fuck..."I cursed out loud. What is with her?
When I first laid my eyes on Annie Fisher, I knew she was perfect. Perfect to be my personal maid. She had a small round face which was mostly covered by a pair of thick glasses. She had a head full of hair which she always tied up in two fishtail braids. Her clothing choice was rather questionable. Not like the other girls in my school who always worried about wearing trendy clothes. Best of all, she was just tiny. She reminded me of a hamster, hence the nickname.
When I saw how weak and nerdy she was, I knew she was the perfect girl to order around. All I had to do was threatened her a few times and she did everything I told her to do. She was actually kind of cute that way. I knew no guy was interested in her at school because she was so meek and nerdy which made her the perfect victim.
Of course, it wasn't entirely because she was spineless and weak. I had a reputation as a bully in this school. Most people were scared of me, so it was a piece of cake to control her. No one ever did anything to help her. Poor, poor Annie Fisher.
I have been making her do my chores for almost a month now. She never stood up to me once, until today. I had to find out what's going on with her so I can fix it then we can go back to our regular relationship where I get to order her around. This just won't do. I enjoyed bossing her around too much.
You can't run away from me forever, little hamster. I'll get you tomorrow. I looked forward to it.
The next day, I grabbed her and pushed her against the lockers. How dare she run away from me yesterday? It's punishment time for the little hamster.
"Evan! Let go of me!" she squealed like a chipmunk.
"Listen here, little hamster, I am willing to forget what you told me yesterday and we can start over. I am going to pretend that you suffered from temporary insanity when you said you won't listen to me anymore," I said.
"You are crazy! I wasn't lying yesterday. I won't be pushed around anymore!" her voice trembled a little, but she spoke firmly.
I yanked the glasses off her face. I knew she couldn't see too well without those. Her hazel eyes were actually her best feature. Too bad she had to hide them under these dorky glasses.
"Wha...what are you doing? Give those back!" she exclaimed.
"Not till you apologize and say you'll keep doing as I say," I said.
"I won't!" she squealed again.
"Fine, I hope you can get through the day without these. Good luck, hamster," I said and dropped the glasses on the floor and stepped on them. She gasped as she heard the sickening crunch beneath my feet.
"Noooo! What have you done! I can barely see without those," she looked like she was about to cry.
"Awe boohoo should've thought about it before going against me," I mocked her then let go. She picked up the broken glasses and tried to see through them, but they were completely broken.
"I hate you! You are a horrible person," she sobbed.
"Yeah, tell me something I don't know. Now get the fuck out of here," I snarled.
I saw her struggling to walk through the crowd. She was stumbling, almost tripping over nothing. That girl is blind as a bat, I laughed at the thought. Hopefully, she will come to her senses soon and do as I say.
I didn't see her for the rest of the day. I wondered if she just went home somehow since she was useless without her glasses. I am gonna have to admit, I was slightly worried about her. I didn't want her to get hurt.
But...It doesn't matter because I also happened to live in the house right across from hers. She can't escape me no matter how hard she tries.
I started to drive back home after classes were over. As I waited on the red light to turn green, I saw Annie walking on the sidewalk with this kid named Brent Adams. Since when did they become friends? I pulled up next to them and honked.
"Hey! Annie! Can't see without those glasses huh? Too fucking bad!" I yelled after rolling down my window.
Annie flinched and looked at me as she recognized my voice.
"Hey man, just leave her alone. She has suffered enough," Brent said.
"I didn't ask you Mr. do-gooder. I'll decide when it's enough for her. Now get in the car, both of you!" I said and unlocked the door.
"Huh? What you mean?" Annie asked nervously.
"Are you deaf now too? Get. In. The. Fucking. Car. Before I lose my shit," I said firmly and glared at Brent.

Annie's POV
Ever since I was a little girl, I had been bullied because of my glasses. Kids made fun of me all throughout elementary and middle school. Called me names like a nerd, four-eye, dork, and many more. I mean...hello! It's not like I choose to wear glasses this thick! I admit I don't exactly look attractive with these covering half of my face, but without them, I can't see a thing. My whole world is blurry. Stupid rare eye condition. Why couldn't I be born normal like everyone else?
Even with all the teasing and bullying, I was surviving just fine. Until I met Evan...
At first, he didn't pay attention to me just like everybody else. But then one day he called me over to him as I was on my way to lunch.
"Hey, you! With the glasses!" he said.
"Huh? Me?" I was confused. Why was Evan Williams talking to me?
It was the first month of my freshman year. I noticed him right away as he was really good looking with his bright blue eyes and the boyish lopsided grin. Way out of my league. Not that it mattered. No boy ever liked me anyway.
"What the fuck are you staring at, freak?" he barked when he saw me looking at him. And that was the only thing he said to me that month.
So, don't blame me for being surprised when he suddenly talked to me!
"Yes, I am talking to you. Do you see anyone else with glasses?" he said and narrowed his eyes at me.
"N... no..." I stammered. I felt really nervous. I was not good at dealing with boys.
"Well don't just stand there like a dumb lamp post. Come over here," he ordered.
I didn't argue. He was kind of scary with his tall and muscular physic. He practically towered over me.
"I've been watching you for a while now," he said.
I blushed. He noticed me. That's surprising.
"So, I've decided you are gonna be my errand girl now," he declared.
Wait...what?
"Wha...what do you mean?" I asked hesitantly.
"I mean, you gonna do everything I ask you. Starting from now. Go buy me some snacks from the vending machine," he ordered.
"I don't understand," I said.
He leaned down and grabbed my shoulders. His blue eyes bored into mine. "Let me spell this out for you little freshman since you are new. I rule this goddamn school. You are in my territory now. That means you don't want to make me angry."
Of course...I should've expected this. I was going to be bullied once again.
"What if I said no?" I asked meekly.
"Then I will get real angry. And when I am angry, bad things will happen to you. Things you can't even imagine." he snarled.
Ugh! Why me!
"I... I’ll go get your snacks," I said.
"Good girl," he said and patted me on the head.
I ran off feeling scared and humiliated. This was a disaster. I had no idea he was such a bully. I came back with snacks and handed them to him.
"Here are your snacks, can I go now?" I said hurriedly.
"Okay. For now, since you did such a good job," he said and shoved some money in my hands.
"Wha...what's it for?" I looked at him quizzically.
"For the damn snacks, what else? I said you are my errand girl, not my sugar mama. Now get out of here," he barked.
I didn't hesitate for another minute and ran far away from him.
Back to the present...
Evan's POV
Brent started to lead Annie inside the back seat.
"Hell no. Annie is sitting up front, next to me," I ordered. He didn't argue with me and led Annie to the front.
"Good boy," I said and started to drive again.
"W... where are you taking us?" Brent asked nervously.
"I am gonna drop your ass home first, then taking Annie with me," I said.
"Wait...don't hurt her! She didn't do anything wrong," Brent said desperately.
"Why the fuck do you think I'll hurt her? It's not like I am kidnapping her. We are neighbors, dumb ass," I snarled.
"Oh," Brent didn't say anything else. Annie stayed quiet the whole time.
"So… what's up with you and the squirrel face?" I asked Annie after dropping off Brent.
"Huh?" Annie squinted at me with confusion.
"Brent. What's up with you and Brent?" I asked again.
"N... nothing… we are friends," she said nervously.
"Friends huh? I thought you didn't have any friends," I said gruffly.
"He talked to me in class, so we started to talk more. I like him he is nice to me," Annie rambled on.
I see what's going on here. Little hamster found herself a squirrel so how she is trying to run away from the wolf. Not happening!
I stopped the car on the curb in front of her house.
"You gonna be able to walk to your front door or do I need to carry your ass there?" I asked.
"No no! Don't. I can manage," she said hurriedly.
"Cool. Then get the fuck out of my car," I barked and watched her skittered away. She raised her arms in front of her like she was walking in the dark. What a dork. I should've just carried her there.
I went back home and took a shower then ate the food my mom left in the fridge. She was working late as always which means, I get to have the whole house to myself.
Later that day, I decided to take a walk to the park that was right outside our neighborhood. I was surprised to see Annie sitting on the swing with her head down.
"Oh, look whose here," I called out in a mocking tone.
She didn't lift her head and trembled a little like she was crying.
What the hell? I thought I was the only one who made her cry.
"What the fuck is the matter with you?" I demanded to know.
She finally looked up. Her cheeks were wet with tears. Her left cheek looked red and raw like someone slapped her.
"Ma...my glasses..." she started to speak but couldn't finish the sentence.
"Yes, glasses. I broke them. Big fucking deal. Is that really something to cry about?" I said irritably.
"My mom said she won't let me into the house if I don't get a new pair. But I have no money," she sniffled.
What the fuck...what kinda mother is that?
I walked over to her and touched the red spot on her cheek. "Did she hit you too?" I asked as she flinched.
She didn't say and looked down again, but she didn't have to.
"Fuck...alright. Let's go," I sighed.
"Where?" she asked.
"To buy you a new pair of glasses," I said.
"Wha...what? N...no you don't have to!" she protested.
"Just shut up and come with me before I get angry," I took her hand and started to walk toward my car.
I took her to the store so she could pick out a new pair. It was almost $200, no wonder her mother got so mad!
