"Would you stop that already!" My best friend Jen said to me while throwing her hands up in the air for emphasis. "I'm listening okay! I'm a woman remember, we can multitask."
Right now we're having our daily argument and do you know what it’s about? That I read too much, for goodness sake, since when is there such thing as reading too much? I listen to her, but she thinks that I don’t hear a thing.
Sometimes I wish I didn't hear a thing. "Please you’re anything but a woman, Tor." At that comment, I threw a pencil at her, which unfortunately she dodged.
"You know I listen to you, even about your Anna problems. So why do you complain all the time?" I said while closing the book I was reading so she can get it through her thick head that I'm listening.
Anna was a girl she had a crush on, but she's scared Anna won't like her. Frankly I’m not a fan of the relationship because Anna... well it's not my place to talk about it.
Jennifer, or Jen as everyone calls her, is really pretty. She’s average height, and has a perfect body and awesome blue eyes. She has shoulder length blonde hair.
A lot of guys in our school ask her out, but she turns them down every time. You know what’s stupid of those guys, they know she's a lesbian, yet they think that they can change her perspective. Doubt it, she says the only guy who can turn her straight again is Josh Hutcherson.
Right now, we're sitting in class learning some biology shit that I couldn't care less about. Yeah I love science, but I’m just not feeling it today. She rolls her eyes at me. "Fine, what was I saying right now?" I smirked at her and leaned forward towards her desk.
"That you saw her making out with Ethan McShaw at last night’s party." I smiled at her look of surprise, but she quickly covered it up.
"Whatever."
I got back to work, knowing it has to be done by the end of this period. After about 20 minutes, the bell rang and I finished the work; no homework! Before we could walk out for next period, the teacher stopped us.
"Class, I’m giving you a warning that I will be assigning a partnered assignment for tomorrow, but I will be choosing your partners." That last sentence earned a groan from the whole class. Part of me is happy that I’m not working with Jen, but the other is sad. Reason is simple: I DO ALL THE WORK.
Don't worry she knows that, yet we still always partner up. I know I’m crazy, but she’s my bestie.
We walked out of class, on our way to the cafeteria. We first stopped by our lockers. We're only two lockers away from each other, so that’s a bonus in this hell hole. Jen opened her locker, and a red envelope fell out of it.
She gets this all the time, love letters from guys proclaiming their love to her, bleh! "Aren’t your letters usually pink, first time I've seen a red one." It’s true, it was normally always pink, never another colour.
She proceeded to open the letter and read it out loud. "Dear Jennifer, I was wondering if you could please help me to impress..." she looked up at me with wide eyes, "Tori Bear."
I'm sure my eyes were popping out of their sockets right now. There’s only one person in this school that calls me by that nickname, no one else. Spencer McBride.
Every girl in this school has a crush on him, me included. Who wouldn't have a crush on him, he's Mr. Popular, captain of every sports team, excellent grades, and so sexy. I mainly know him as the sweetest guy I've ever met.
I'm sure people thought I was a fish on how my mouth was opening and closing. Jen dragged me towards the cafeteria. When we got there I came back to reality and went to go get food, while Jen grabbed our table.
I grabbed myself a burger, coke and an orange. Have to eat healthy right? I was about to hand the cashier my money, but a hand stopped me, and when I saw who the hand belonged to, I was frozen stiff in my position.
Spencer McBride.
"Let me, Tori Bear." He handed the lady the money and we walked further away.
"T-thank y-you." Yeah, never put me in a room with a guy. People honestly think I’m crazy when I’m so shy around guys, because they know me as the loud and crazy girl.
"Listen, I was wondering if maybe you could help me with some science this Friday? Unless you have plans. I understand if you do, I should have known you would..." I started to chuckle at his adorable rambling. He stopped and looked at me with a confused face. He soon started to laugh at himself as well. I nodded to his question and we exchanged numbers.
When I got to our table, I knew Jen had seen me and Spencer talk. "Were you just talking to Spencer?" She said with a smug look on her face.
"No, I didn't talk to him, I instead stuttered and made a fool of myself." I groaned and put my face in my hands.
"Tori, he doesn't care that you stuttered, you’re just paranoid. So what did he say?" Always so nosy, but that’s Jen for you.
"He just asked me if I could help him on Friday with some science work." Just wait for it, she'll explode...
"WHAT!"
...Now. She's so predictable, she just jumps to conclusions. "Jen he asked for help, he didn't ask me to marry him." She gave me a look that told me that she didn't appreciate the sarcasm.
"He so likes you!" One thing a person has to know about her is that she's a hopeless romantic.
"I'm not looking for a relationship right now."
The look on her face, was probably the same as mine, grim. "Tor, I know you’re not over him, but you have to move on and find a guy who will love and treat you properly."
"I am over him, I’m just not ready for a relationship okay?" I was starting to get a tad bit angry.
After that was said, we talked about random topics until lunch was over. The rest of the day went by in a blur, and the next thing I knew I was home.
"Mom, I’m home!" I heard rustling in the kitchen. My mom loves to cook. It’s her sanctuary, as she puts it.
"Hi Tor, I’m in the kitchen!" She yelled back. I put my bag down and headed into the kitchen. When I saw it, it looked like World War III exploded in there. There was flour everywhere, broken eggs scattered around, and weird goop on the ceiling and on the countertop.
"Mom what's going on here?" I asked while stepping over cracked eggshells. "Oh I’m just making a dessert for our new neighbours who just moved in." My mom’s always been so polite and kind, people sometimes call her 'a ray of sunshine,' and she really is.
"Sweetheart, what’s the date today? My schedule’s been so busy, I just forget sometimes." My mom is a very hard working women. She does everything in her power to supply for my needs, even though I have a job.
"The 13th of July."
The grim look on her face was heart breaking, but I knew what the cause of it was. It was a few weeks before my brothers birthday. He would have been 25 this year, he passed away when he was eleven and I was four.
My mom use to tell me how he cared for me so much, and would have done anything for me. The best times I remember with him is whenever I had a nightmare, or something or someone scared me, he would always be there to comfort and protect me.
He was the best big brother a four year old could ever have. I would give anything to just say goodbye to him, since I never had that chance.
"Mom I think you should take a nap. Go, I'll clean this up okay?" I knew she wanted to protest, but the bags under her eyes told me other wise. She nodded and headed upstairs.
When I was done cleaning up everything, I wrote a note to my mom telling her I’m going to the gym.
I went up to my room, and put on a tank top, a sports bra, shorts, and my running shoes.
When I started to walk, I got a text from Jen.
‘Oh my gosh! Did you hear the news?’
From Jen.
‘No, what news?’
From Tori.
‘The news of the ‘Sexy Three' coming back to school!’
From Jen.
‘Never heard of them.’
From Tori.
‘What, how have you never heard of them!’
From Jen.
‘Listen Jen, I’m not interested. I have to go to the gym. Talk later.’
From Tori.
‘Okay enjoy see you tomorrow!’
From Jen.

I walked into the gym and went straight to my destination, the punching bag. I've taken self-defense classes for the past year now. I stopped going about three months ago, not needing the classes anymore.
I just work out at the gym now; I even help some of the other guys. Technically I'm the only girl who helps the guys, because I’m the only one who can hand their asses to them.
I may be shy around guys, but when I'm in training mode, I couldn't give a shit who the guy was. I was greeted by my favourite training partner, Darron.
He's really built for his age, but he doesn't use steroids, he just works really hard. He's the only one here that can hand me my ass on a silver platter.
"Hello baby." And he's the only guy I allow here to flirt with me, but I know he's only kidding. I think it started on my fifth day here, I don't know why, but we just started to flirt with each other in a playful way and it just stuck with us.
Ever since I started here, he's always been there to protect me. He's like a brother to me.
"Hey handsome." I said with a playful wink, but knowing me it probably looked like something was in my eye and I was trying to get it out.
"Oh baby you know you shouldn't do that, or else I can't control myself." He fake groaned, while I laughed at his sexual comment.
"You’re so weird, but anyways are we hitting the bag or the ring?" Hoping we could hit the ring, I haven't been in there for a while. He smirked at me and I knew what that smirk meant.
Ring time!
I ran over to the ring and jumped on, waiting impatiently for Darron to get on so we could start. When he finally got on, we taped up our hands and started to circle each other.
Darron was the first to strike and he went straight for my abdomen, luckily I dodged it, but by a millimeter. I wasn't as lucky when he brought his leg up and kicked me in the chest.
I fell, but quickly got up and started to throw punches at him. My first punch was aimed at his nose, and I was satisfied when I hit my target.
My second punch was an upper cut, but he grabbed my arm and twisted it behind my back. I ripped it away from his grip and flipped him over.
He landed on the floor with a loud thud, though I always forget never to underestimate him because I was suddenly falling to the ground, then he was pinning me down.
I love sparring with him, because he doesn't care that I’m a girl. He goes hard no matter who you are.
"That was an amazing session baby, although you still had me groaning a lot with that sexy ass of yours moving around so much." He smirked while I just rolled my eyes at him.
"Well I’m gonna hit the bag for a few, then hit the showers, bye sexy." I kissed his cheek and walked off to the punching bags.
When I got there I started to let all my frustrations out on it. Punch after punch all the anger I still carry around gets knocked into the bag, but the anger stays, it never leaves.
After a couple of hours kicking, jabbing, and punching, I finally hit the showers. When I got to the girls’ shower room, I heard noises coming from inside one of the stalls.
Moaning. Great, just what I needed to hear, people getting it on. Just my fucking luck. The moaning started to get louder, and I was appalled at how they didn't care if someone heard them.
Finally, getting frustrated with the noise I banged on the stall door and yelled, "If you’re gonna do that shit, shut the fuck up!" The moaning stopped then I heard the girl speak.
"Tori is that you?" She said in a small fragile voice.
"My name is Jeff." I said quoting 22 Jump Street.
"Fuck, I’m sorry Tori. I promise we'll keep it down—" She was interrupted by the guy she was with.
"Why you so fucking scared of her?" If I had to be honest, that voice sounded like a husky, sexy angel’s voice.
But you could tell it belonged to a jerk.
"Shhh Dalton, she can hand you your ass in the ring." I smirked and left them alone to do their dirty work. Dalton, sexy name, wonder if it belongs... no Tori, the dude’s an ass, don’t even bother.
After my shower, I walked out and headed towards Darron to say goodbye. As I was walking up to him, I saw two guys by the punching bag, and I have to say it was a very pleasing sight.
"Are you getting bored of me baby, cause you’re checking them out like they're a plate of fresh bacon." I laughed at Darron's ridiculous thinking and I shook my head at him.
"Oh baby, you know I could never forget you." I cooed to him and winked. We laughed and talked for a bit until I had to leave. I said goodbye and made my way out, but not before catching those two guys looking at me.
I didn't get a very good glimpse at them, cause I had caught them staring, and they quickly averted their eyes. I shrugged and made my way out the door.
When I got home, I saw my mom was up again, and she was just about done with that dessert for the neighbours.
"Hey mom." She looked up at me and smiled.
"Hi sweetie, how was the gym?"
I grabbed a bottle of water and drank it in one gulp. "It was cool. Me and Darron were in the ring today. Yes, before you ask, he beat me...again. I think I’m becoming better though, I got a couple hits on him before he pinned me."
She smiled at me while putting a clear sheet of plastic over the dessert. "That’s wonderful, you know, why don't you and Darron go out; you two make a cute couple." My mom is like Jen, a hopeless romantic.
I gave her a look and her whole mood changed from happy to sadness. "It's okay mom." She nodded her head and then put her smile back on her face.
"Sweetie, can you please take this to our neighbours?" I nodded and grabbed the dish. I closed the front door behind me and made my way towards our new neighbour’s house.
It was as an average looking house, same as mine, although I knew they had a pool. I knew the previous owners, an elderly couple, but then they moved to go live over seas.
I was making my way up the front steps when I saw a car pull up. A beautiful women, who was probably in her mid 30's, climbed out of the car and started to grab grocery bags.
I put the dish on their table outside and went to go help her. "Hi ma'am would you like some help?" She looked up at me, startled slightly, but then gave me a mega-watt smile.
"Oh yes please dear, thank you so much. If only my children were as kind as you." I grabbed a couple of bags and walked with her to her door.
She opened up and we went inside. The inside was amazing. It had that modern vintage look to it. It was incredible, definitely a sight to see.
"No need to thank me ma'am. Your house is beautiful." She said a quick thank you, and we went into the kitchen, putting the groceries away.
"So who are you my dear?" She asked, while putting her frozens in the freezer.
"I’m Tori Satten, your neighbour ma'am." She clapped her hands excitedly and squealed.
"Fantastic I’m so happy I will be seeing a lot more of you. So why did you come here?" I smiled and then I remembered why I was here.
"Oh shoot, just give me one second please?"
I quickly walked out the house, grabbed the dessert and walked back inside. When I showed her the dessert you could already see her drooling for a taste.
"Why thank you dear, you’re to kind." I shook my head at her.
"No ma'am, my mother made it, but I will tell her you said thank you."
"Oh Tori, please call me Tammy, ma'am is so formal." I nodded and we decided to talk for a while. We eventually ended up having a cup of coffee and playing chess.
"You know what would be fantastic? If you could come by on Friday for another game of chess, oh please would you. My children never want to play with me anymore." I gave her a genuine smile and accepted her offer.
We talked for a little more, but then I had to get home. I said goodbye and made my way back home.
I spoke with my mom about Tammy, and she already liked her. I then went up to my room, did my homework, and went straight to bed.
